Photography exhibition

Local & regional heritage

A heartfelt tribute to this native breed and to all those, in the shadows or in the light, who care for it with dedication.

Passionate about the Hérens breed and trained as an animal care therapist, Virginie Jean has devoted several years to exploring the bond between humans and animals within the world of mountain farming.

Her first book, Regard de Reines, was born from her encounters with breeders, shepherds, cheesemakers, veterinarians, and craftsmen — all the different actors who embody this living culture. Created in collaboration with the talented photographer Alicia Coudray, the book brings together their two artistic sensibilities. Through her powerful and poetic images, Alicia captures the tenderness of a touch, the dignity of a gaze, and the unique connection between humans and animals.

Their complementary languages intertwine to offer a sincere and moving testimony to this often little-known rural world. Through this riverside exhibition, Virginie and Alicia invite visitors to step into the fascinating universe of the Hérens breed.

Along the way, you will encounter faces, gestures, seasons — and cows, of course.
